Garden bed put-to-bed
Annuals pulled, perennials cut back, beds raked clean and bagged before the first hard freeze.
What it is
Beds cut back, cleared and ready for winter, by hand.
Once the perennials have died back and the annuals have gone brown, the beds want a tidy before snow: annuals pulled, perennials cut to a few inches, leaves and debris raked out, everything bagged. It makes spring cleanup half the job and keeps slugs and mildew from wintering in a mat of dead stems.
This is slow, kneeling work and we treat it that way. Hand pruners and gloves only; no hedge trimmers, no digging, and nothing woody gets cut. When a crew member isn't sure whether a plant stays, it stays, and they photograph it for our team to ask you.
When to book it
After the first hard frost has knocked the annuals down, typically late October through November. If you want the leaves off the lawn too, book leaf raking with the beds add-on, or both services for the same window.

What the sizes mean
- Small: Up to 1,500 sq ft, about 30 × 50 ft or less. Townhome or patio-home yard, or the front of most suburban lots.
- Medium: 1,500–3,500 sq ft, about 50 × 70 ft. The back yard of the usual suburban lot.
- Large: 3,500–7,000 sq ft, about 70 × 100 ft. Quarter-acre lots and up, or anything with mature cottonwoods.
Sizes are per part, so a small front and a medium back is normal. Not sure? Pick the bigger one; if it turns out smaller you pay the smaller price.
Book garden bed put-to-bedThey follow a simple rule: annuals out, named perennials cut back, anything woody or uncertain left alone and photographed. Tell us in the booking notes which beds and which plants, and the crew sticks to that list.
Not in the fall visit. Mulch spreading is a spring service; a put-to-bed visit gets the beds ready for it.
No. Raking with the beds add-on clears leaves out of the beds; put-to-bed is the full cut-back and clear. Many people book raking in October and put-to-bed in November.
