Mulch spreading

Your delivered mulch spread evenly in beds and around trees at the right depth.

What it is

Your mulch, spread evenly and pulled back from the stems.

You buy the mulch and have it delivered or bagged; we spread it. Two to three inches deep across the beds, raked even, pulled a couple of inches back from stems, trunks and siding, with spilled mulch swept off the lawn and the walk.

If the beds haven't been cleaned, book Spring bed cleanup first or in the same window; mulch over weeds just hides them for a month.

When to book it

After spring bed cleanup, once the soil has warmed, usually May. Order mulch for the day before the window opens.

On the day

How a mulch spreading visit goes.

  1. Before photos including the pile or bags.
  2. Beds quickly cleared of anything loose.
  3. Mulch carried by wheelbarrow or bucket and spread with a rake to an even 2 to 3 inches.
  4. Pulled back from stems, trunks and siding; raked smooth.
  5. Lawn and walks swept, after photos of each bed.

What you'll see after

Even, tidy beds, no mulch volcanoes around the trees, and no pile left on the driveway.

A cubic yard covers about 100 sq ft at 3 inches. Measure the beds, add them up, and round up a little.

No. That needs a truck and a supplier account, and it would double the price. Most garden centers and the big-box stores deliver.
