What to expect · Garden bed put-to-bed

Garden bed put-to-bed: what done looks like.

Annuals are out, perennials are cut back to a few inches, the beds are raked clean, and everything is bagged.

The standard

This page is the same one the crew is trained on.

Every crew member reads a guide for garden bed put-to-bed, passes a test on it, and ticks a checklist on their phone while they work. Our team reviews their before and after photos against this standard before your card is charged. Here it is, so you can hold us to it.

Done means

  • Beds show soil or mulch, not a mat of dead stems.
  • No annual stubs left.
  • Cut stems are even, not hacked.
  • Edges swept.
The crew's checklist
  • Work area clear and tidy
  • Bags tied and at the curb
  • Gates closed as found
Not part of this job
pruning shrubs or trees, hauling, anything above shoulder height.
Typical time
About 1 hr 40 min for a typical yard

In pictures

Not good, and good.

In each picture the left side is what our team sends back, and the right side is what you should see when the crew leaves.

How the day goes, step by step, is on the garden bed put-to-bed service page; this page is the standard the crew is held to.

Before we arrive

What you have ready.

  • Bags your pickup accepts, at the bag spot you chose.
  • A note or a tag on anything that should NOT be cut back or pulled (bulbs coming up, a plant you're unsure about). When in doubt the crew leaves it.
  • Gate unlocked, dogs inside for the visit.
  • Sprinklers off that morning.

The crew brings: Hand pruners, gloves, kneeling pad, tarp. No hedge trimmers, nothing woody gets cut.

Reminders
This list is on your booking page, in your booking email, and in a note the day before the visit.
Crew age
16 and over, tested on this job.
Weather
Beds can't be cut back or cleared under snow or in rain. If that's the forecast we move the visit and email you the evening before.
Something not ready?
Reply to any of our emails and we'll move the visit. Nothing is charged until the job is done.

That's the whole standard.

No fine print. If what you see doesn't match this page, say so within 24 hours and our team sends the crew back, adjusts the price or refunds.

Seasons is new. We expect most jobs to be claimed by a local crew member within a day or two of booking and to happen as planned, but some won't be. Some don't: nobody claims the job, weather stops it, or the crew member who claimed it gets sick, and another crew member may not be free to pick it up. When that happens we email you, nothing is charged, and you can rebook in one click or walk away. We'd rather say that plainly than promise what a small crew can't.
